Fendi

One of the most renowned and idolized members of the fashion community is Fendi. Fendi designs are among some of the most elegant and sophisticated. Coming from humble beginnings, Fendi has exploded into a giant in the fashion industry.

The Fashion Design Label

In Via del Plebiscito, Rome, Eduardo and Adele Fendi opened a handbag shop and a fur workshop in 1925. The word quickly spread among Rome's finest of the superior quality of the couple's products. Soon, business extended outside of Rome and that is how the Fendi label was born. In the 1962, the label brings on board Karl Lagerfeld, a young Paris designer of German descent. Lagerfeld begins an overhaul on the designs and breathes new life into the furs with new materials and revisited skins. During this time, the company's signature logo, “the double F”, was introduced. 1977 was the year that Fendi's ready-to-wear collection was released which included jeans, shoes, sunglasses, home furnishings, and assortments of other every day wear. That same year also marks the debut of Fendi's perfume. The Fendi Baguette bag was designed by the creative mind of Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997. The small bag obtained a large following as fashion lovers admired the individuality of the Baguette. Fendi currently has stores in 25 countries.

The Style

Fendi design displays clean geometric patterns with little interference in their clothing and accessories. The frills are little to none on a Fendi item and prints are used sparingly. The classic Baguette bag is the only exception. While the stark rectangular shape of the bag never changes, the colors, material, and embellishments do.

Fendi is a large contributor to the fashion industry. They have gone from a small niche following to a worldwide phenomenon. With over 80 years of fashion milestones, we can be sure to be enjoying their designs for years to come.
