Juicy Couture

What do velour tracksuits, Madonna and Bloomingdale's have in common? The answer is their connection to Juicy Couture.

In 1997, friends Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor started their company, Juicy Couture, in Los Angeles. Rather than taking a traditional path to success, Pamela and Gela started by sending sample designs to celebrities. Early on, this resulted in relatively slow company grown. Then in 2001, their signature Juicy tracksuit was custom designed for Madonna, who popularized not only the velour tracksuit but also the brand.

Following this, the brand grew rapidly. Juicy Couture became famous for their successful melding of luxury and comfort. Stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue picked up the line. In 2003, Fifth and Pacific Companies, Inc., formerly Liz Claiborne, Inc., acquired Juicy Couture.

The Style

Today, Juicy Couture continues to produce many of the hottest new styles. Their designs bring a mixture of power and whimsy to feminine apparel and fashion. What began as a fashion adventure between two friends has become a global phenomenon. Their products, now available worldwide, include styles for women, girls and babies as well as accessories such as shoes, bags, jewelry and sunglasses. Juicy Couture also offers some of the world’s finest personal fragrances, swimwear and intimate apparel.

The future looks bright for Juicy Couture. Under the direction of LeAnn Nealz, named chief creative officer and president in 2010, the company’s reputation as the world’s leading on-trend brand for feminine clothing and accessories continues to grow. Collections such as Bird by Juicy lead the way in combining hip street wear with elegance and panache as uptown fashion meets downtown style.
