American women are not the only ones who embrace the fabulous sportswear lines of Michael Kors. Today, over 30 boutiques embracing that recognizable MK logo can be found around the world. Women everywhere love the trench coats, pantsuits and casual dresses that the Michael Kors brand has to offer. Known for creating fashion looks that flatter a woman's body, Michael Kors has become a household name in the fashion world. Of course, fashion lovers everywhere knew about the talent of Michael Kors long before he launched his own line in 2003. 
 
The Michael Kors brand was not always so apparent in the fashion world. Michael Kors attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He graduated at age 19 and then decided to open his own fashion line a couple years later. The designer quietly opened his couture line at Bloomingdale's in 1981. From then on, he continued to work for major fashion house Celine as the creative director and designer for the ready-to-wear collection. 
 
In 2003, Michael Kors decided to leave Celine and pursue his own fashion line with more vigor. Ever since that turning point in the designer's career, thousands of women can be seen carrying his handbags emblazoned with the MK logo. The sportswear collection has also had tremendous success in the United States, and women love the simplicity of his dress and pantsuit designs. Women love the way that Michael Kors pantsuits make them feel confident and empowered with the cut of the shoulders. Women like Jennifer Lopez and Michelle Obama have been spotted wearing his couture dress collections at red carpet events. 
 
Michael Kors continues to be a trendsetter in the specific niche of American sportswear. As he continues to host Project Runway, the fashion world will be sure to see more of his ideas in the future.
